How To Choose: Your Bodyboard

When the weather heats up people flock to the beach. The waves are cool and refreshing and people ride the waves with ease for fun. If you’re looking to join them a bodyboard is a great option. Bodyboarding is easier to learn than surfing but just as exciting.

Now there’s just one question keeping you from starting: how do you choose which board is right for you?

The most important part is making sure that the board is the right size for you.

The best size, generally, is to have the board come to your belly button. If you’re missing a ruler this handy table uses your weight and height to judge which size board would be best for you. All our bodyboard lengths are measured in inches.

So, if you weigh between 60kg and 70kg and are 1.75m tall, you’ll want to look at a 42″ bodyboard.

After having sorted out what size you’re looking for, the next factor is technology. Some boards have extra features, smoother bases and wings that are designed to catch the waves and give the rider more “grip” in the wave.

Decathlon has 3 ranges of bodyboards. The 100 series, 500 series, and 900 series. For those just starting out or looking too use their boards every once in a while a 100 series bodyboard will be just what you’re looking for. If you’re going every few weeks go for a 500, or if every weekend you’re going bodyboarding, check out the 900 series.

Know that you know what you’re looking for, why not have a quick look at the options available at Decathlon?
